Edgetech’s most recent stop in its ‘Journey to C’ nationwide series of events saw the company return to Coventry, the scene of its first industry seminar 4 years ago. Taking a break from the Ricoh Arena this time, close to 100 delegates gathered at the historic Coombe Abbey last week. Representatives from systems companies, IGU manufacturers, fabricators and installers attended to get armed with facts to help their businesses prepare for the proposed legislation that all replacement windows of all types will require a BFRC Window Energy rating of C.

Andy Jones, Edgetech’s Managing Director explains: “As with all of the events we are holding around the country, delegates heard from Giles Willson of the BFRC, Richard Bate of Buildcheck, and Alan Fielder of Edgetech about the specific details of the Building Regulations and the process of achieving and then selling windows with energy ratings. Interestingly, Giles pointed out the increase in BFRC registrations since our first Journey to C event last month in Scotland, an endorsement that companies really are using the events to practically future proof their businesses.”

Dave Laing, Managing Director of leading IGU manufacturer Cleartherm and one of the original advocates of energy efficient units had this to say: “We’ve already worked with customers to achieve energy ratings – six are already there, and four are in the process at the moment. Interestingly, as a direct result of today’s seminar, three more customers have committed to the journey. We could see the trend towards energy efficiency four years ago and had the foresight then to invest over £1million in automation to stay ahead. The result of this commitment is now paying off for our customers in the face of the massive impact this new legislation will have – our customers’ interests are now protected and their businesses future proofed.”

Christopher Shaw and Mark Worthington, Sales Director and Operations Director of Classic Doors and Windows in Nottingham commented: “For the last 10 years, we’ve built our business on quality and customer service. This means that we need to be armed with the facts – not speculation – about where the market is heading and how we stay ahead of the competition. The workshop achieved this for us and we came away armed with simulations that will mean when the legislation does change, we’ll already be ahead of much of the market who don’t seem to grasp the scale of the challenge yet. Thanks Edgetech!”
